President's Message First, let me introduce myself. My name is David Curie and I am the new president for the BVW PTO. I was asked if I would be interested in being president of the PTO and at first I was hesitant because I thought that the organization was for moms. After giving the position some thought, I decided that I would accept the position since the "P" does stand for Parents and not Moms.
I am looking forward to having a great year. The PTO has many exciting things planned for the remainder of the school year…activities where even dads can participate!
Secret Santa Spring Carnival Staff Holiday Breakfast Fifth Grade Recognition Staff Appreciation Field Day Parent Teacher Conference Dinners (Spring)
If you are interested in participating, please contact me (dlcurie@gmail.com) or one of the other officers.
The Bank now offers Buckeye Valley Schools Visa Spirit Card. You can earn rewards of 1% up to $500.00 every year. One half of the reward goes to the account holder and the other half of the reward goes to Buckeye Valley Schools. Applications are by the office door.
We are currently working on transferring the information from the Old BVWE PTO site to its new home here in the Buckeye Valley Web site.

{FAQ} The PTO at West Elementary is involved in fundraising and in supporting several student-centered activities for our students.
What is the PTO?PTO stands for the Parent Teacher Organization. Its main goal is to provide support and enhancement for Buckeye Valley West Elementary School. This is done through a variety of educational, social and service events. The PTO at Buckeye Valley West is a group that welcomes participation at any level.
Who belongs to the PTO? All Buckeye Valley West families and the faculty are members of the PTO. This is your group and the forum with which you can use to express opinions on school issues and school related activities. It's also your opportunity to become involved in the many activities, which are sponsored by the PTO for the benefit of the school and its students.
Why does the PTO have fundraisers? The PTO pays for many activities, which benefit students, such as Artists in the Schools, Right to Read Week, Field Day, in-school field trips such as COSI On Wheels and recess toys. Additionally, the PTO purchases playground equipment, books and other school supplies. We also provide each teacher with start up money at the beginning of each year for the classroom.
Why should I join the PTO?It's important for all parents to have an avenue for input to the school their children attend. It's also important for children to see that their parents care enough about their school to be involved. This demonstrates to children that we all have an investment in our school and the community.
The PTO needs your help in many ways. Our many programs and projects require hundreds of volunteer hours and a variety of skills. Admittedly, all of us have busy lives. If everyone does just a little to help, it will make the job easier.
There is an enormous sense of satisfaction which comes with doing a job that enriches the lives of our children. Additionally, PTO membership is a terrific way to meet other parents with similar interests and goals. Many great friendships have been the result of working together on a project or school program.
Whom do I contact for information? Please contact any of our PTO Officers listed above for more information. We hope to see you at the meetings!.
