• 8th grade students went to Washington, D.C. as a capstone experience for their middle school years
• More than 40 seventh graders participated in a science research trip to Ohio State University's Stone Lab on Gibraltar Island
• Sixth graders participated in a 3-day outdoor education experience at Camp Templed Hills
• Emily Clunk and Justin Gunn were the Delaware Optimist Club Youth Appreciation Award winners from BVMS
• Eighth graders Eric Pettit and Sana Kenney won the Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Awards
• Students presented the musical "Once Upon a Mattress" as well as two other concerts
• Implemented a "Modified Block" schedule aimed at improving student achievment.
• Staff development included: Identifying "Power Standards", implementation of the "Better Answers" writing formula and continuation of OAT data analysis.
• continuation of Study Island at all grades to support assessment for learning of the State standards/indicators at each grade level
• Showed overall improvement, particularly in the area of math, on the State Achievement Tests.  BVMS met the mark on 8 out of 10 State Indicators on the State report card 
• The Guidance Department supported students with many groups, targeting at supporting issues for teens (victims, girl power, dealing with loss, etc.)
