The Bands at Buckeye Valley are an integral part of student life. Various groups at all levels are highly visible within the district, as well as in the community. These ensembles provide a fun and challenging experience to our students. The band program begins in 5th grade at all three elementary schools, grows at the Middle School with three grade-level bands, and continues at the High School with Marching, Concert, Jazz, and Pep Bands.

The Buckeye Valley Fight Song Our fight song is actually a combination of two pieces of music. The first half is entitled "Down the Field," and is part of Yale University's fight song. The words were written by C.W. O'Conner in 1904, and the music was written by Stanleigh P. Friedman in 1905. The melody we use comes from the "trio" (third melodic theme) of the Yale version.
March! March on down the field, fighting for BV. Once more the Brown and Gold will break through their line, And then a long cheer for BV's teams. We're here to win again! BV's teams will fight to the end for Victory!
The second half of our fight song is from a march entitled "Entrance of the Gladiators," by Czech composer Julius Ernst Wilhelm Fucik. This march gained notoriety when it was used as a circus march, for which the title was changed to "Thunder and Blazes." BV once again borrows the "trio" of this march for our fight song.
Our fans will cheer to the end for our teams And lift up their spirits to lead them to victory. With our heads held up high and our eyes filled with pride, BV's teams will forever fight for Victory!

Concert Band Concert Band at Buckeye Valley meets daily to rehearse music for upcoming performances. Members represent each of the four grade levels at Buckeye Valley High School, and the group features brass, woodwind, and percussion sections. The Concert Band plays a wide variety of musical styles, and annual performances include a Holiday Concert in December, a Mid-Winter concert in March, and a Spring Concert in May.
Jazz Band The focus of the Jazz Band is two-fold: to explore a variety of styles from jazz literature and to develop a skill set including improvising musical lines, playing in an appropriate style, and recognizing the different roles of musicians within the ensemble. Since it is a select group featuring some of BVHS's best musicians, Jazz Band is only open to students in grades 10-12, and anyone who would like to participate in the ensemble must complete an audition before they haved signed up for the class. The BVHS Jazz Band is also available for performing opportunities in the community. Contact Mr. Eastham for more information about this group.
