{SACC} Get to know more about Buckeye Valley's various After School programs {SACC} After school time. It's a tradition. Big or small, special events after school time bring people together in the elementary school age child care (SACC) programs and the middle school After School Club. Food is customary for many of our special occasions. We - parents, children, staff, and community members - over the years have baked cookies, supplied spaghetti sauce, scooped ice cream, cooked turkeys and the list goes on. All the while we each have filled ourselves with conversation learning about each other; a mother that is recovering from surgery, tickets to the big game, the now funny story about an underwear episode, a child that is struggling with his friends, and also the list goes on.
{SACC} A few such after school time special events happened recently. At the After School Club, middle school students in the culinary club made menu items from Smokey Bones Restaurant with Smokey Bones Regional Culinary Manager, Jesica Kantner. Smokey Bones donated all the food items and free food certificates for the students. Students learned about safety issues while cooking, basic food presentation, and about each others taste for barbecue sauces. The East and West SACC sites hosted thanksgiving feasts in which families shared in overflowing tables of traditional Thanksgiving food.
The evenings were not complete without a lot of laughter and too much pumpkin pie. We hope that you and yours have time for traditions, each unique, maybe even necessary for our belonging, connecting families, communities, and school.
